    First Meet - Lansmoore Lasers

    Hello Thunderbolts!

After a couple of busy weeks of practice, it is time for our first Swim Meet!!  The meet is on Thursday, May 30, at the Lansmoore neighborhood pool.  Please read the below information carefully, particularly if this is your first season on the team.

The weather should be very forgiving at this first meet. That said, please be sure to bring water and gatorade for your swimmers. Although it won't be too hot, it will be sunny, and the Lansmoore pool does not provide very much shade. We are likely to be in the sun for quite some time.

    LUAU THEME

Lansmoore is making this meet Luau themed, and has invited us to participate as well.  If you would like to, go ahead and wear your Hawaiian Shirt or your Lei or your Grass Skirt.  If not, NO PROBLEM.  Bolt's Purple is always welcome too.

    ADDRESS & PARKING

The pool is located at 1012 Lansfaire Crossing, Suwanee, GA 30024. When the parking lots fill up you can park along the side of the roads within the neighborhood, keeping the curbs on one side of the street free to allow for cars to pass easily. "No Parking" signs will be posted on one side of the street. Please be careful not to block driveways or park too close to intersections.

    START & END TIME

Please plan to arrive by 5:00.  The Lasers will warm up in the pool from 5:00-5:25. The Bolts will have 5:30-5:55. Meet starts at 6pm.

Swimmers should check in with the coaches as soon as they arrive, and volunteers should check in with Venita Killian. If you are signed up to volunteer, it is critical that you make it to fulfill that role!

Once all of the swimmers in your family have swum all of their events, your family is welcome to leave the meet. But please, PLEASE check out with a coach before leaving. This is both a logistical and a safety issue.

    VISITING TEAM RESERVED AREA

Our team has a spot reserved for swimmers on the grassy area between the playground and the pool and we can also use the bleachers and cement area next to the tennis courts (their HOA has asked that we please keep swimmers out of the tennis courts during meet). The pool deck side closest to the playground is also reserved for Bolts Parents.

    INCLEMENT WEATHER
In case of bad weather, we ask that swimmers, families, volunteers, and spectators go to their cars. Rescheduling a meet is a gigantic headache for both teams, and every effort will be made to swim on the day of the meet. As of now, the weather looks good.

    CONCESSIONS
Lansmoore will be selling concessions, including pizza and/or Chick-fil-a as well as drinks and candy.  Please feel free to patron their concession stand.  They would love it.  But also, feel free to bring food for your own family.  PLEASE REMEMBER, TOBACCO AND ALCOHOL ARE PROHIBITED AT ALL GWINNETT SWIM LEAGUE EVENTS.

    SWIMTOPIA
If you have not already done so, it is a good idea to download and log-in to the Swimtopia App. The coaches have already loaded each swimmer and their events (excluding relays) into the app, and it is a good way to keep up with the meet.

    FOR OUR NEW FAMILIES

The first meet can be quite a spectacle. There will be lots happening, and it can look pretty chaotic. It is also a ton of fun, and you will be surprised at how quickly you get into the routine of a swim meet. If you have questions, just ask someone anyone around who has been a part of the team in past seasons. We all remember what it was like during the first season, and we are happy to help out!

Here are a few things that you will want to bring with you:

    • Swim Gear for each swimmer, including their racing suit, a couple of swim caps, goggles, and a parka or hoodie or jacket to wear in between events.
    • Multiple Towels - at least 2 per swimmer
    • Sun Protection, including Sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses.
    • A deck chair for each person attending with you (swimmers included)
    • An umbrella for sun and for rain
    • Water
    • Food or money for concessions
    • Purple or black sharpies to write event numbers on the swimmers' arms
    • Games, tablets, phones, etc for the swimmers to be on between events
    • Loud voices and great attitudes!

Looking forward to a great meet,

    Go BOLTS!
