Coach Reason has devoted over 35 years to coaching and education, including 25 years as Head Coach of the Thunderbolts and 33 years coaching at Duluth High School and Stone Mountain High School. He is currently Assistant Head Coach at Brookwood High School. As the summer league head coach for 35 years, he guided the Thunderbolts to 3 county championships and 11 division titles, with Top 5 finishes at county championships in 23 of 25 seasons. Throughout his career, Coach Reason has been committed to developing not only strong swimmers but also confident, disciplined young leaders who carry the values of teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship far beyond the pool. Married to Sharon for 30 years, and is the proud father of Tyler and Parker.
Coach Kaitlyn is entering her third season coaching with the Thunderbolt Swim Team. A lifelong Thunderbolt swimmer, Kaitlyn competed with the team for 11 years and swam for Duluth Middle School and Duluth High School for six years, specializing in backstroke and freestyle. After graduating from Duluth High School in 2024, she began pursuing a degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science at the University of North Georgia. Kaitlyn is passionate about sharing her love of swimming and helping young athletes build confidence, develop their skills, and achieve their personal goals.
Coach Sarakay has been a part of the Thunderbolts family for more than 10 years, having served the team in nearly every role. After spending seven years as a swimmer, a Junior Coach during high school, and an Assistant Coach after graduation, she is entering her third year of coaching. Growing up with the Thunderbolts helped foster a passion for swimming, leadership, and mentoring young athletes. Primarily working with the 6 & Under swimmers, she focuses on teaching fundamental skills, building water confidence, and creating a fun, positive environment. One of the most rewarding aspects of coaching is watching her swimmers grow from their first season into confident, successful teammates. Outside of the pool, Sarakay attends Mercer University pursuing a degree in Kinesiology on the Pre-Physician Assistant (Pre-PA) track.
Coach Megan is entering her 11th season with the Thunderbolts Swim Team and her fifth season on the coaching staff, after spending two years as a junior coach. As a competitive swimmer, Megan specialized in breaststroke, butterfly, and the individual medley, earning county qualification every year of her swimming career. A 2025 graduate of North Gwinnett High School, she swam for the school’s varsity team for four years. Megan is currently attending Samford University, where she is pursuing a degree in Music Education with a Vocal Concentration and a minor in Worship Leadership. She is excited to share her experience, enthusiasm, and love of swimming with the next generation of Thunderbolts athletes.
