Meet Locations &Times
We compete against other neighborhood teams on Thursday evenings, starting at the end of May and continuing through the end of June. Visit the event section on our website to see where and when swim meets are held.
An email is sent before every meet. It contains location, parking restrictions, and any other specific details you need to know before you arrive. Remember, we are guests in every neighborhood, and should show respect and be considerate while we are there.
All meets start at 6:00 pm. Warm-ups at away meets begin at 5:20 pm; please arrive by 5:00 pm. Warm-ups at home meets begin at 4:50 pm; please arrive by 4:30 pm. The pool will open for entry at 4:30 pm. Non-Riverbrooke residents cannot enter earlier. Allow time for traffic and to find parking, and be there on time.
General Rules & Guidance
Smoking (including e-cigarettes) or alcoholic beverages is NOT allowed within the fenced pool area and surrounding area during the meets. This is a strict rule of the Gwinnett County Swim League. NO GLASS CONTAINERS.
No one is allowed in the pool, staging area, or behind the starting blocks during the swim meets except swimmers, coaches, timers, and officials.
Remember to be QUIET and NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY for the start of each race.
Bring a folding chair. Pool furniture is not to be used.
Concessions are available at each meet. Selection varies from team to team.
Swimmer and Volunteer Check-In
Volunteers need to check in with the volunteer coordinator immediately upon arrival, and swimmers need to check in with the coaches.
Do Not Leave Early
It takes four swimmers to create a relay team. All swimmers need to talk to the coaches before leaving a meet to ensure they are not scheduled for relay events. If you leave without notice, this scratches the event, and the other kids will not be able to swim. This is extremely disappointing to coaches, families, and swimmers who were expecting to race in a relay.
Let Us Know When You Plan to Miss a Meet
If you're missing a meet for any reason (e.g., vacation, illness), mark your swimmer's absence in Swimtopia and email the coach as soon as you know. Our team roster is submitted early, and "no-shows" create a problem when heats are scheduled and relays are created. Please do not tell the coaches at practice and expect them to remember that you will not be there.
Pickup Your Meet Ribbons
Swim ribbons are awarded after every swim meet and are available for pick-up at practice when you see a purple bin at the table upon entering our pool. Please leave the name envelopes in the bin and only take your ribbons out of the envelope.
- 1st through 6th place - all individual events; all ages (GCSL)
- 1st through 2nd place - relays; all ages (GCSL)
- Participation ribbons for individual events only for ages 12 and under
- Personal best improvement ribbons - all individual events; all ages (Bolts)
If you believe your child is missing any ribbons, email Julie Utley at [email protected] with your child's name, the meet date, and the event #.
Set Your Swimmer Up for Success
On the day of a meet, swimmers should REST and save their strength. No swimming until that night. About 2-3 hours before the meet, have a well-balanced high-protein/high-carbohydrate meal. Do not eat sugar on the day of the meet, as it causes a sudden rise of blood sugar, resulting in sluggishness. Be sure to bring water and Gatorade to keep swimmers hydrated on meet day.
If your child is disqualified, do not approach the official until after the meet. He/she will attempt to inform the swimmer, if time permits, of stroke and turn infractions after their swim.
