First Meet - Chateau Elan
CHATEAU ELAN MEET INFORMATION
Swim caps will not arrive in time for the first meet (they should arrive early next week.). SO, if you swam for the Bolt's last year, please just use an old Bolt's cap for this meet. If this is your first season with the team, any cap you have (purple if possible!) will be fine for this meet.
ADDRESS & PARKING
The pool is located at 1965 Sports Club Dr., Braselton, 30517. You must enter from the GA Highway 211 entrance. The team has the main parking lot with a few overflow lots. Please observe the No Parking signs and traffic cones. There will be a parking attendant directing cars. The gates close at 10:00 pm, so please make sure that you are inside the gates before that time if you are picking up swimmers from late events.
ARRIVAL
Please plan to arrive by 5:00. No one will be admitted until 4:30 as the team is setting up. Swimmers should check in with the coaches, and volunteers should check in with Venita. If you are signed up to volunteer, it is critical that you make it to fulfill that role!
Our team's warm up time is from 5:20-5:50pm, and the meet will begin at 6:00.
PLEASE have all swimmers there by 5:00.
TEAM AREA
Our bullpen and staging area are in the grass to the right of the sidewalk leading to the club building, nearest to the parking lot when you enter the pool area.
PARENTS/SPECTATORS/VOLUNTEERS
Once you enter the pool area, spectators will set up on the near side of the pool
(the side where the kiddie pool is located). We are also still short several volunteer spots. To reiterate: we cannot run these meets without volunteers. If you have not already done so, please go onto the website and sign up to time or work the bullpen for either the first half or second half of the meet. Volunteers: When you arrive, please check in with Venita Killian so she knows that you are here!
INCLEMENT WEATHER
In case of bad weather, we ask that swimmers, families, volunteers, and spectators go to their cars. Rescheduling a meet is a gigantic headache for both teams, and every effort will be made to swim on the day of the meet. As of now, the weather looks good.
CONCESSIONS
The concessions area is in the Sports Club lower level accessible by a walk-up window. They will be selling hamburgers, french fries, and the usual assortment of drinks, chips, candy, and other snacks. They do take cash and credit cards.
SWIMTOPIA
If you have not already done so, it is a good idea to download and log in to the Swimtopia App. The coaches have already loaded each swimmer and their events (excluding relays) into the app, and it is a good way to keep up with the meet.
FOR OUR NEW FAMILIES
The first meet can be quite a spectacle. There will be lots happening, and it can look pretty chaotic. It is also a ton of fun, and you will be surprised at how quickly you get into the routine of a swim meet. If you have questions, just ask someone anyone around who has been a part of the team in past seasons. We all remember what it was like during the first season, and we are happy to help out!
Here are a few things that you will want to bring with you:
- Sunscreen
- A deck chair for each person attending with you (swimmers included)
- An umbrella for sun and for rain
- Water
- Food or money for concessions
- Purple or black sharpies
- Towels (two is a good idea), goggles, and swim caps for all swimmers
- Games, tablets, phones, etc for between events
- Loud voices and great attitudes!
